About ‘Pray for Boston ’
Pray for Boston is an ongoing monthly prayer meeting and movement of Metro Boston pastors and leaders that was started approximately two years ago. Pray for Boston is encouraging four streams of ministry suggested by local pastors: (1) neighborhood based pastor-to-pastor prayer and fellowship; (2) neighborhood based congregation-to-congregation gatherings; (3) coordinated city-wide prayer gatherings & activity, and (4) intercessory prayer activity - especially with regard to how these four streams of ministry might help prepare the church and our city for a sustained and significant move of God’s Spirit- even revival. Our monthly gatherings will follow this basic pattern:
9:00 – 9:30 Fellowship
9:30 – 10:00 Worship
10:00 – 10:30 Presentation (teaching, testimony, announcements, & etc.)
10:30 – 12:00 Prayer
12:00-1:00 Meal
-The amount of fellowship, worship & presentation time can flex but the prayer time must be well guarded by the prayer facilitators with the goal of 90 minutes of prayer minimum.
Prayer
As prayer is at the heart of our monthly gathering, our goal is to spend a minimum of 90 minutes in small and/or large group prayer as guided by the designated prayer facilitators. The prayer facilitators are encouraged to steward the time and prayer activity as they feel God’s spirit leading. As various local prayer facilitators are engaged over the course of the year, our prayer time may include a variety of prayer modes, themes/topics, & groupings. Pastor George Irabor bgirabor@verizon.net and Mark Steiger steiger.mark@gmail.com have offered to help coordinate our prayer facilitators for 2009.
Worship
As we recognize the importance of worship and how it can help align and prepare us for corporate prayer, we will have a time of worship at the front end of our gatherings that includes a variety of musical styles and local worship leaders from the church in Metro Boston. Brother Zenzo Matoga zenzopraise5@hotmail.com has offered to coordinate the worship teams for 2009.
Fellowship
Our ‘Pray for Boston ’ monthly prayer gatherings will include a brief time of fellowship at the beginning and a lunch at the end of our gathering. In addition, we will continue to explore ways to encourage and strengthen, neighborhood based pastor-to-pastor fellowship and neighborhood based congregation-to-congregation fellowship as suggested by local pastors.
Presentation
This is a pre-planned time for selected leaders to address the entire group during our monthly gathering on a variety of prayer related topics and issues. This time may include brief preaching, teaching, testimonies, prayer focus issues, announcements for local events, etc. as guided by the coordinator. Pastor Francis Balla francis.balla@gmail.com has offered to coordinate the presentation times for 2009.
